Breathe Easy

Breathing mechanics are often a bit challenging for us as singers. We think we’re doing what we’re supposed to and trying really hard, but oftentimes not getting the consistent, effortless singing results we desire. This can create frustration and a rather debilitating mental loop, where our emotional body then decides a whole lot of stuff about our voice, our ability, or lack thereof, and the journey towards our dreams and aspirations can seem endless. I know this, because I’ve been there. Five voice teachers and I was unable to get to my dream of being a professional singer.

Then, one day, everything changed. It all happened with my sixth teacher, Edward Sayegh. He was a Bel Canto Master teacher, unbeknownst to me. I had no idea what that would mean for my life then. It was 33 years ago that I walked into his studio in San Francisco and he asked if I would do everything he said to do, for the next three years. I can’t for the life of me tell you why I said, “yes,” but I am oh, so glad that I did.

What if you never had to think about air again? What if singing became about artistry and musicianship? What if your voice did everything you wanted it to do for you, instantly? What if shifting one small belief could open the door to your vocal freedom forever? What if the signs of aging or distress could be reversed? What if accuracy, control and beautiful ringing, resonant and expanded sound was right around the corner?

Join me, Debra Lynn, for an online session called Breathing Easy with Bel Canto on May 12th at 7 pm EDT. I’ll walk you through the Magic of You and if you’re at all like me, this work could change your life, just like it did mine!
